The Programmes:

H
From Hair Bear Bunch to H R Puff n Stuff

Hair Bear Bunch : Hair Bear, Square Bear and (fill in the blank please), residents of a rather hi-tec cave in The Wonderland Zoo. Looked after by zookeeper Peevly and Botch.

STAY AT HOME EVERY NIGHT
NEVER QUARREL OR FIGHT
AHHH - THEY DON'T EVEN BITE!

SO LETS GO <I THINK>
HELP! HELP! HERE COME THE BEARS!
HELP! HELP! HERE COME THE BEARS!
HELP! HELP! HERE COME THE BEARS!
IT'S THE HAIR BEAR BUNCH....

Video - Help! It's the Hair Bear Bunch

A Handful of Songs : A couple sit in a studio decorated by children's drawings singing along to the guy's guitar. Anyone remember "I'm a pink toothbrush. Your a blue toothbrush" Happiness, no more, no less.

WE'VE GOT A HANDFUL OF SONGS TO SING YOU,
CAN'T STOP MY VOICE WHEN IT LONGS TO BRING YOU,
NEW SONGS AND TRUE SONGS AND SONGS TO BRING YOU,
HAPPINESS - NO MORE, NO LESS

MOREOVER, WHEREVER WE MAY ROAM TO,
OR ANY SHORE THAT WE MAY BE BLOWN TO,
YOU KNOW THAT WE'RE GONNA FEEL AT HOME TOO
LAUGH AND SHOUT - THE MUSIC'S OUT

Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew : Kid detectives who had their own shows on alternate weeks but would come together for a "special" every so often. I have no idea whether they were related or what but Nancy was a bit of a babe.

Heads and Tails: Kids TV genius Derek Griffiths with his look on the animal kingdom, includimg each animals own theme tune.

Theme Tune - Heads and Tails Theme
Sound Clip - A song about monkeys

Hector's House : No info, but here's a website.

Website - Hector's House
Video - Hector's House

Heggety Haggety : A witch, with a cat and a rock and roll theme tune. Narrated by George "Her Indoors" Cole.

Heidi: Soppy trash with a real nauseating theme tune. Even the dubbing sounded wooden. Why do little girls in these programmes ALWAYS have to be smiling?

He-man: and the Masters Of The Universe. Prince Adam, nice chap, never in any trouble, knows the power of Greyskull and he's not afraid to hold up his magic sword and shout about it.

This programme would change the face of Kids TV forever. "He-Man" was a toy before it was a TV show but Matel wanted to know how to sell more of him, so they made the TV show, so they sold the merchanise and the rest....

Henry's Cat : An English Garfield. Terribly animated, awful voices, bloody brilliant. Who was Henry?

Characters included:

Denise duck
Ted Tortoise
Sammy Snail
Chris rabbit - A sarcastic little git.
Douglas Dog
Mosey mouse

Original Theme Tune (it would become an instrumental)

HEN-ER-RY'S
HEN-ER-RY'S
YOU MUST KNOW HEN-ER-RY'S CAT
HEN-ER-RY'S
HEN-ER-RY'S
YOU MUST KNOW HEN-ER-RY'S CAT
YOU MUST HAVE SEEN THE MOVIE
YOU MUST HAVE READ THE BOOK
HE'S A MELLOW, YELLOW FELINE
SO TAKE A SECOND LOOK
HE KNOWS EVERYTHING ABOUT NOTHING
AND NOT TOO MUCH ABOUT THAT
SO IF YOU KNOW SOMEONE
WHO KNOWS WHAT HE KNOWS
THEN YOU MUST KNOW HENRY'S CAT
THEN YOU MUST KNOW HENRY'S CAT

The Herbs: A group of animals living in a garden all based on various herbs and spices.

Bayleaf the Gardeners song :
I'M BAYLEAF, I'M THE GARDENER,
I WORK FROM EARLY DAWN,
SWEEPING UP THE LEAVES
AND RAKING UP THE LAWN.

Parsley the lions song.
I'M A VERY FRIENDLY LION CALLED PARSLEY,
PLEASE DON'Y SHOUT AT ME OR TALK TO ME TOO HARSHLY"

Dill the dogs song :
I'M DILL THE DOG, I'M A DOG CALLED DILL"

Sage the owl song:
I'M A FEATHERY OWL CALLED SAGE.

Video - The Herbs

Hey Look That's Me : Bloke looking very much like Keith Chegwin (I don't think it was him though) rode round Hampshire on a bicycle pulling a small pink one man caravan (like Grandpa's in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang). It gave local kids the chance to get themselves on telly, you know the type of thing, Cub Packs, Girl Guides, under 8 baseball teams and go-kart or model clubs. Broadcast once a week on Saturdays, it reached the zenith when it introduced the once a year go-kart challenge!! They closed a public road (a long hill) and allowed kids in homemade go-karts to race, without helmets, at breakneck speed against each other. The only cover was one St Johns ambulance man.

It was carnage but great telly, I think they managed two years before they realised it was a little dangerous/lost their franchise?

Hickory House : Not to be confused with Hector's House apparently (whatever that was). Dusty Mop, a mop with a long red nose and two eyes and Humphrey Cushion, a grey cushion with big ears and had a passion for bananas.

Hold Tight : Now who remembers this?? A quiz show based at Alton Towers theme park. Good idea but the contestants rarely got to go on the rides. Bob Carolgees (Spit The Dogs owner) was one of the presenters.

In their recent biography Depeche Mode mention appearing on "Hold Tight" as one of the low points of their career.

Hong Kong Phooey : Who is the famous super hero?

Penry, the mild mannered janitor?
COULD BE!
Could Be!

Sarge?
NO!
No!

Rosemary, the telephone operator?
NO!
No!

HONG KONG PHOOEY
NUMBER ONE SUPER GUY
HONG KONG PHOOEY
QUICKER THAN THE HUMAN EYE
HE'S GOT STYLE OF A MOVIE STAR
AND A CAR THAT JUST WONT STOP
WHEN THE GOING GETS TOUGH
HE'S SUPER TOUGH
AND A HONG KONG PHOOEY CHOP ...YAH!!!

Theme Tune - The Hong Kong Phooey Theme

How: ITV's answer to Johnny Ball's all conquering science programmes on the BBC. Fred Dinage and other presenters discuss how things work, how things happen and how to put your hand, palm-outstretched, towards another person and say "How!". Shown mainly in the 70's, it reappeared in the 90's with Dinage, Vorderman and Gaz Top (who had suddenly become Gareth Jones) but didn't last too long.

How We Used To Live: One of the programmes for schools. There were different storylines, one was about World War One with a family (the Selby's ?) from Salford, Manchester who try to cope with the fact that their son has to fight in the trenches. It was so well acted and made that it deserved to be shown as an adult programme too. Anybody remember the slow motion images of a man being shot and jumping into the trenches? Magic.

H R Puff N Stuff : The begining had a boy in a boat, and there was a bad storm, he was escaping from someone. also, he had a magic flut that talked. there was someone always trying to get the flute from him.

H R PUFF N' STUFF ALWAYS THERE WHEN THINGS GET ROUGH
H.R.PUFF N'STUFF YOU CANT GET A LITTLE IF YOU CANT GET ENOUGH.

AND THE BOAT WAS OWNED BY A CROOKED OLD WITCH
WHO HAD IN MIND A FLUTE TO SNITCH
AND THE BOAT WENT ON AND ON AND ON........

Large booing and hissing for the Witchipoo who would try and steal the magic talking flute.
